Yesterday afternoon I got a notification on my phone from IMdB Pro that they had added more cast members to East of Eden. Whenever I audition for a role in a big movie or TV show, I follow the IMdB Pro and turn notifications on. Not all projects update in real time, but in this case, they did. The only cast member that was added that affected me was Hoon Lee. If you don’t know who Hoon Lee is, he’s been around forever and has been acting professionally for over 20 years. He’s also in one of my favorite shows, Warrior. I definitely see him in the role of Lee and he’s a great actor.
I knew when I did the East of Eden audition that it was a longshot, being a new actor. But it got me seen and in the room with one of the biggest casting agents and getting the to audition was a surprise.
Since I didn’t get the role, I thought I would share my audition. This is the first audition I’ve done (and I’ve done almost 200) that I didn’t question any of my acting choices. There are some things I would improve on, but they are just mechanics of my acting more than anything else. For example, I am blinking too much in certain parts.
You’re welcome to give feedback if you want, but at the end of the day, the three people that matter were happy with this audition, my coach, my manager and myself.
