What is Starmeter
The IMDb Starmeter is a ranking system that shows which people, titles, and companies on IMDb are getting the most views on their pages.
Does Your Starmeter Matter?
Maybe, but probably not. The only benefit that I’ve noticed on IMDb with having a lower starmeter is that the lower the starmeter, the higher up you are in the listed cast. That being said, it’s also dependent on how the cast is listed. Some projects are specifically listed in certain orders, and in that case, you’ll be listed as such and not by starmeter.
There have been situations where I have been contacted by casting or filmmakers after they say my profile on IMDb and I assuming that is because I am listed towards the top of the cast based on starmeter.
How To Improve Your Starmeter
I’ve been using Karmalicity for about a year and it’s kept my starmeter under 50K. Make sure you have the Chrome browser as you will need it at some point to use the automated chrome extension.
1. go here : https://www.karmalicity.com
2. Sign up and link your IMDb (and IMDb Pro if you have that)
3. Go to “dashboard” and compete all daily actions. This earns karma points. Karma points are used to have others view your IMDb. Effectively, you get a view on your page for each view on other’s pages.
4. Once you have viewed 500 pages from others, you unlock the option to purchase Karma Pro. Buy it with karma points NOT cash. Karma pro gives a chrome extension that does your dailies for you. (use “Point Trade In” in your Account page). To do this, click on your profile picture in the right corner. Then select account and you will find “Points Trade In” at the bottom of the page on the left.
5. Download and use the Karma pro extension for Chrome. It requires one click a day to start it. You need to trade in Karma points to keep Karma pro active.
6. You might get a “try Karma Pro for 7 days free” along the way. Do it.
Keep up with this daily to keep the starmeter down. The new starmeter comes out ever Sunday night.
