Is It Important To Get Your Audition In Early?

Based on what happened yesterday, my answer is yes.

I had gotten a commercial audition on Sunday with a quick turnaround; 48 hours. I usually try and get my auditions in early. At least 24 hours before the submission deadline. This isn’t always possible because I like to spend a 1-3 days with bigger auditions. Commercial auditions are usually pretty easy, rarely need a reader and are either action or just introduction based. This one was action, so I knocked it out after work on Monday night.

I got the callback email through cMail on Actor’s Access the next afternoon; two hours before the auditions closed. The client got their shortlist for callbacks to them before that. Were there more auditions that came in in those two hours? Did they add anyone after that list was decided on? Did they even watch the auditions that came in after they made their decision? Who knows, but I do know that, in this case, getting my audition in early benefitted me and got me a callback.
