3 Month Update: How Things are Going with My New Manager

Three months ago, I found and signed with a new management agency, Dream Talent Management out of LA. I thought I would give an update on how things were going with them and what a good management agency does for their talent.

First, I could not be happier with Dream Talent. Since day 1, they have been working on finding me representation in LA and NY. Just last week they submitted me to Coast to Coast Talent Group, which represent some big names. They have gotten me half a dozen auditions with some big projects. I have been a part of pitch packages for other big projects. They watch every one of my auditions and provide feedback.

A couple weeks ago, I started sending them a weekly email outlining everything I have going on with acting. My auditions, projects I am on callback for, things I am filming, etc. They find it helpful and it keeps them in the loop.

A good talent manager understands where you want to go in your career and helps develop that. They should have relationships with casting agents, talent agencies, directors and producers and be able to pitch you to them. They should be able to refer you to headshot photographers, acting coaches, and classes. Other responsibilities include negotiating contacts on your behalf, developing and implementing marketing strategies to advance your career and getting you auditions.

To say that I am happy with them, is an understatement. They are a complete 180 from the original management company I was with, TLCE. As soon as I realized that my agency wasn’t a good fit for me, I left. It saves me time in the long run, as staying longer with a bad agency is just a waste of time.
