In Perpetuity

I see more and more commercial casting calls that are “In Perpetuity”.

For example, the commercial pays 500 dollars a day with a 1000 dollar buyout in perpetuity,

Now what that means is they are allowed to use your likeness in that commercial forever. FOREVER.

Now the money might be good and you might not care , but on top of it being used indefinitely without you getting paid anymore, there’s another issue and that is conflict of interest.

If the above example is a commercial for a bank, then, if you book another bank commercial with a competing bank, you might not be able to do it as they would see your original commercial a conflict because it is a competing bank.

In the end, it’s each to their own and if you think it’s worth it to do the commercial, then do it, but just know what you’re getting yourself into.
