How to Find and Submit to Talent Agencies

You feel like you’re ready for an agent. You’ve got a decent resume and a reel that shows off your talent. What now? When I found my agent, I focused on SAG-AFTRA franchised agencies. These agencies are approved by SAG, but you don’t have to be union to be represented by them.

You do not have to be SAG to submit. The SAG-AFTRA franchise just gives you more protection from scams and gives the agency more legitimacy.

To get the list, go to sagaftra.org

Click on Contracts & Industry Resources

Click on Agencies & Managers

Click on Franchised Agents List under Related Links

Scroll all the way down and choose Local (Atlanta)

Click Search

I then went to each agencies website and looked to see if they took submissions without a referral, and if they did, they will usually tell you their preference on submission. The ones that took email submissions, I sent them my resume, headshots and reel. The ones that took online submissions have a form to fill out. And there are ones that only take mail in submissions, which I would have done if I didn’t get any interest from the other agencies.

I ended up submitting to 19 agencies. The first response I got was within 24 hours. Since I submitted on a weekend, I was impressed. Then then I got two more responses the following week. The final response I got was over 2 weeks later.
