How to Network and Find Acting Jobs with Social Media

I spend the majority of my days working on finding roles, auditioning, networking and researching. Most people have full time jobs so they are limited in time for doing these things, so I thought I would share how I use social media to network and to find roles.

FACEBOOK

  • Join every Facebook group that has anything to do with local filmmaking and acting. Casting calls are posted all the time in these groups. Make sure all notifications are turned on when you join so you don’t miss a post.
  • Follow every casting agent, casting director and casting company on Facebook. It’s easily searchable, but here’s a list for you to make it easy. https://uptodateactor.com/database/castingDirectors_atl.php
  • Engage in groups. I make posts about my experiences as an actor trying to become successful. Sharing my journey has gotten me lots of new friends, contacts, and even work. People reach out to me on DM almost daily. Everyone has their own experiences to share and someone might find what you post helpful in advancing their journey.

INSTAGRAM

  • I have a separate Instagram strictly for acting. I use it to follow other actors and people in the film business. Almost everyday I get information from other people’s posts that I can apply to my acting career.
  • Follow all casting agent, casting director and casting company. See above link for list.
  • Anytime I do anything with acting, I take a picture and post.

Not everyone has time to go to meetups. Not everyone has the money to go out to meet people once or twice week. But most people are already on social media daily, so why not use it to benefot your acting career?
